Gear

What's in the room.

What microphones does Lush Recording Studio have?

Our default vocal mic is the Sony C800G — the same tube condenser on Kanye, Travis Scott, Drake, and Frank Ocean records. We also run a Neumann U87 (often paired with R&B and softer melodic vocals), plus a full set of dynamic mics for live tracking. The C800G lives in the booth as the standard vocal mic, not a rent-on-request piece.

What is the full vocal chain?

Sony C800G → Neve 1073SPX preamp → Tube-Tech CL1B opto compressor → UAD Apollo x8 interface. The same chain elite studios run, on every vocal session — no upcharge or tier gate. The C800G captures, the 1073 adds harmonic warmth, the CL1B controls dynamics musically, and the Apollo handles conversion.

Do you have a Neve 1073 in Toronto?

Yes. We run a Neve 1073SPX — the modern AMS Neve reissue with the original Class A circuit and Marinair-style transformers, plus a built-in EQ section. It's on more #1 records than any preamp in history, and at Lush it's the default preamp on every vocal session.

What DAW and monitors does the studio use?

We track and mix in Pro Tools and Logic Pro on a UAD-powered chain (Apollo x8 with native and UAD plugins). Monitoring is on Yamaha HS reference monitors plus Adam Audio nearfields for mix translation, with a treated control room and isolated vocal booth.

Pricing

What it costs.

How much does it cost to record at Lush Recording Studio?

Vocal recording with engineer is $75 CAD/hr with a 2-hour minimum. Senior engineer sessions (mixing, mastering, A/V direction) are $100 CAD/hr with a 2-hour minimum. The 6-hour daytime block from 10AM–4PM is $400 CAD flat — the best per-hour rate for tracking a project. Room-only rental (no engineer) is $250 CAD for a 5-hour bundle.

Do mixing and mastering cost extra?

Yes — mixing & mastering is sold as a separate service tiered $249–$449 CAD per song depending on stem count, with 7-day delivery. The price includes both the mix and the master from the senior engineer team. See /mixingmastering for full tier breakdown.

Are there any hidden fees or upcharges on the gear?

No. The full vocal chain — Sony C800G, Neve 1073SPX, Tube-Tech CL1B, Apollo x8 — is included in every recording session at the standard hourly rate. No per-mic fee, no premium tier required, no boutique gear add-on. The chain is the chain on a 2-hour booking and on a full-day block.

Do you require a deposit?

Sessions under 4 hours require no deposit. Sessions of 4 hours or longer require a $500 CAD deposit to confirm the booking. All prices are in Canadian dollars. Full cancellation terms are on our refund policy page.

Booking

How to book.

What's the minimum session length?

Two hours for engineer-led recording sessions ($75/hr vocal, $100/hr senior engineer). Studio room rental without engineer is sold as a 5-hour bundle at $250. The 6-hour daytime special is a single $400 flat block. We don't take 1-hour vocal bookings — two hours is the minimum to set up, warm up, and actually capture takes worth keeping.

How do I book a session?

The fastest path is a 15-minute studio tour — in person or by video — where we answer everything, walk you through the gear, and hold your date on the spot. Click any "Book a Tour" button on the site, or call 647-799-2439. You can also send an inquiry through the form on most pages and we'll reply by email.

What's included in a recording session?

An in-house engineer, the full vocal chain (C800G + Neve 1073 + Tube-Tech CL1B + Apollo x8), mic setup, comping, and a rough bounce of your session at the end. Optional multicam capture of the booth is available so you can post the session to your own feeds — you keep the raw footage and own the edit.

Can I bring my own engineer or producer?

Yes. Studio room rental at $250 for 5 hours gives you the full chain to run yourself — bring your engineer, your producer, or operate it solo for cookups and demos. If you'd rather we engineer it, the $75/hr vocal recording rate includes our in-house engineer.
